SOPHOMORE HAYATO KANESAKA NAMED MUSTANG OF THE WEEK

Men's soccer sophomore Hayato Kanesaka (Old Tappen, NJ/Northern Valley) is this week's (10/6/2008) Mustang of the week.  Although he did not tally a stat the entire week, Kanesaka made the switch to the sweeper position from center midfield and needless to say, it has already paid tremendous dividends for the Mustangs.  Since making the switch, Mount Ida men's soccer has gone 6-2-2 overall and 3-1-0 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).  The key to the switch is his speed, defensive ability, and tremendous knowledge of the game.  "H", the nickname his teammates go by, has helped the Mustangs keep the ball out of the zone, denying his opponents more opportunities to take a shot on net.  Mount Ida will head to Norwich University this coming Saturday for more conference action starting at 3:00 p.m.
