BELTON/ALVAREZ SHARE MUSTANG OF THE WEEK HONORS

Two Mount Ida College men's volleyball players share this week's Mustang-of-the-week honors after a career day for the both of them.  Sophomore's Thomas Belton (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) and Gary Alvarez (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) together enjoyed outstanding overall performances in last week's competition. 

Belton notched a career high 38 kills on 65 attempts as well as 15 digs and two block assists against Polytechnic University of New York in the first round of the Bard College tournament this past weekend.  The Mustangs posted a 2-6 record over the span of six days also notching another Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) division of the Northeast Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) victory over Emerson College led by Belton with 18 kills and 12 digs. 

Alvarez had a record setting day carving his name in the Mount Ida men's volleyball record books landing sixth all time with 56 assists against Polytechnic University of New York in the Bard College tournament.  He also had three other matches during the week with over 40 assists (40, 47, and 41). 

The Mustangs will travel to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology this coming weekend for another tournament starting Saturday morning.
