BENNETT/SANTOS TANDEM FOR MUSTANG OF THE WEEK

Junior guard Dave Santos (Mattapan, MA/Ben Franklin Institute) and senior forward Matt Bennett (Rochester, NH/Spaulding) fueled the Mount Ida College men's basketball team to a 76-63 victory over Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Rivier College this past Thursday night in Newton, Massachusetts. The win snapped a five game skid for the Mustangs, their first W in 2009 as well as their first conference victory of the season. 

Santos, who had been on the injury list since November, came back against Lasell College on Monday night tallying nine points and five steals.  His big outing though was against River where he notched a game high 24 points and three steals. 

Bennett has been a rock all season whether it's scoring or rebounding, he's an all around solid player for Mount Ida.  Against the Lasers from neighboring Lasell College, who Bennett played for two seasons ago, he netted 18 points and nine caroms.  His game against the Raiders from Rivier College was outstanding with 12 points and 12 boards in a huge victory for his team registering his third double-double of the season. 

The Mustangs will visit Emmanuel College this coming Tuesday night, January 27, 2009 for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
