BLUM/PARISI SHARE MUSTANG OF THE WEEK HONORS
Mount Ida College women's basketball forward's, junior Cherie Parisi (South Attleboro, MA/Attleboro) and freshman Hannah Blum (Raleigh, NC/Broughton), powered the Mustangs to a 1-1 record this past week. Mount Ida, dropped a tough 64-60 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss to Lasell College last Tuesday but came back huge on Saturday with a victory at home against GNAC foe Albertus Magnus College, 73-57, on senior day.
Parisi is 23 points away from breaking the 1,000 point barrier with two games remaining in the season. No Mustang has ever broke 1,000 points during their junior year. She notched her eighth double-double of the season last Tuesday at Lasell with 12 points and 11 boards. Against the Falcons, Parisi would net a season high 27 points and nine rebounds nearly missing her ninth double-double in the victory.
Blum has been a key factor to her team's recent success and late push for the Mustangs first playoff berth as members of the GNAC in women's basketball. She was a monster underneath the boards against Lasell tallying her third double-double of the year with a season high 19 boards and 16 points. She was three caroms shy (22) of the career for rebounds in a game. Blum played a big role in Mount Ida's win over the visiting Falcons this past Saturday with 12 points and nine boards.
The Mustangs will travel to GNAC powerhouse and number one ranked Emmanuel College this coming Thursday starting at 7:00 p.m.
