SENIOR KERRI KWASEK NAMED MUSTANG OF THE WEEK

Mount Ida College women's softball senior captain Kerri Kwasek (Framingham, MA/Framingham) is this week's mustang-of-the-week. Kwasek was the only softball player in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) selected to two GNAC all-conference teams for different positions. She was honored to the GNAC second team all-conference as a utility player. This was the second time in two years she was honored as a utility player for all-conference honors. In 34 games played, Kwasek registered a .354 batting average with 34 hits, nine doubles, one triple, five homeruns, and a team leading 20 runs batted in. Her most amazing statistic of the year was only eight strikeouts in 96 at-bats on the season.
Kwasek was also selected as a pitcher on the GNAC third team all-conference for the first time in her career. After a key injury to second string pitcher Kim Hurley (Fiskdale, MA/Tantasqua Regional) ending her season, Kwasek had no choice but to pitch the remainder of the games on the schedule due to no back-up. She went 9-13 with 24 games started and 23 complete games with a 4.37 earned run average in 150.2 innings pitched with 63 strikeouts.
Kwasek, a four year starter at Mount Ida who has started and played every inning since she arrived on campus, holds 14 combined career records for hits, RBI's, double, games started, at bats, slugging percentage, total bases, most victories, most complete games, and most at bats to name a few. Congratulations to Kerri on these wonderful accomplishments!!
