SAVAGE/BELLIVEAU SWEEP WEEKLY CONFERENCE AWARDS
Two Mount Ida College spring athletes were selected to the weekly honors awards in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) this past week. Sophomore Matthew Savage (Peabody, MA/Peabody) was selected as men's lacrosse player-of-the-week for the NAC while freshman Erica Belliveau (Tewksbury, MA/Tewksbury) was honored as rookie-of-the-week for the GNAC. This was the first time this season these players have been recognized with these awards. Congratulations to Matt and Erica on these wonderful accomplishments!!
Savage has continued to show how important he is to the Mount Ida College men's lacrosse program this season picking up the pace this past week offensively. Savage tallied three scores in an 8-7 victory over a very tough New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Babson College team on a last second goal in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. Savage also notched a five spot against North Atlantic Conference (NAC) foe Maine Maritime Academy this past Saturday afternoon winning 18-4 respectively. The Mustangs will travel to NAC member Husson College this coming Wednesday starting at 4:00 p.m.
Belliveau has been a solid addition to the Mount Ida College softball program so far this season now leading the Mustangs with a .413 batting average after a very impressive week offensively. In eight games this past week, Belliveau tallied 12 hits, seven runs scored, two doubles, two homeruns, and nine runs batted in with a weekly average of .522. She has been impressive not just this week, but all season leading the team in hits (31), doubles (9), RBI's (14), walks (10), slugging percentage (.680%), and total bases (51). Look for Belliveau to be a very important piece to the Mustang softball puzzle as they make their final push for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) playoff bid. Mount Ida softball will host non-conference Wheelock College this coming Tuesday in the first double header of four this week starting at 3:00 p.m.
