WEEK SIX ATHLETES-OF-THE-WEEK ANNOUNCED

Athletes of the Week - WEEK SIX

The Mount Ida College sports information department is pleased to announce week six's athletes-of-the-week.  

Women's soccer junior goaltender Meghan Begins (Jericho, VT/Jericho) has been named women's soccer athlete-of-the-week.  Begins preserved a 0-0 double overtime tie with Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) member Suffolk University tallying nine saves in 110 minutes played.  The Mustangs will travel to Rivier College this coming Saturday for more GNAC action starting at 12:00 p.m.  

Women's Cross Country junior Melissa Fuller (Woburn, MA/Woburn) has been named women's cross country athlete-of-the-Week.  Fuller ran a personal best time of 25:02 coming in 195th place in the Pop Crowell Cross Country Invitational.  The Mustangs will travel to Emmanuel College this coming Friday starting at 4:00 p.m.

Women's tennis sophomore Ariel Rich (Somerville, MA/Somerville) has been named women's tennis athlete-of-the-week.  Rich was victorious in a 9-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over Pine Manor College this past Saturday.  After winning a routine first set (6-1), she dropped the second set (6-3).  A deciding third set came down to a tiebreaker at 6-6 that Rich captured after some aggressive shots to snatch a marathon match 7-6.  The Mustangs will head to non-conference Anna Maria College this Tuesday starting at 3:30 p.m.

Women's volleyball junior Chelsea Darnell (Dublin, OH/Dublin Scioto) has been named women's volleyball athlete-of-the-week.  In a 3-0 week from the Mustangs, Darnell tallied a total of 20 kills, four service aces, and 24 digs in victories over Daniel Webster College, Eastern Nazarene College, and Simmons College.  The Mustangs will get on the road of the next four contests starting at GNAC foe Johnson & Wales University this Tuesday starting at 7:00 p.m.
