KYLE WATKINS SELECTED TO ECFC WEEKLY HONORS

Mount Ida College senior wide receiver and kick return special Kyle Watkins (New Haven, CT/James Hillhouse) has been named Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) special teams player-of-the-week after his outstanding individual performance this past Saturday in a 29-28 conference victory over visiting Husson University on Halloween. Watkins played a significant role in the win over the Eagles with a key 85 yard kickoff return to pull the Mustangs within a touchdown and carry the momentum of the game over to Mount Ida. On the ensuing kickoff immediately following an Eagles touchdown to give the visitors a 28-14 lead over the hosts, Watkins took an 85 yards kick return to the house with 11:41 remaining to pull the Mustangs within a score of Husson (21-28) giving the hosts the momentum they needed to get back into the game. The Mustangs will host Utica College this coming Saturday for their final regular season game and will wait to see if they are granted a berth into the ECFC title game awaiting the outcome of the Gallaudet University versus SUNY Maritime College contest Friday night. If the Bison win the Mustangs will head to Northfield, Vermont to face rival Norwich University. If the Privateers are victorious Mount Ida will finish the season in third place in the ECFC standings.
