GNAC WEEKLY HONORS ANNOUNCED, DANIELS TOPS LIST

Mount Ida College freshman striker Will Daniels (Bethany, CT/Notre Dame) collected Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) rookie-of-the-week honors this past week for the first award received by a Mount Ida College student-athlete from the GNAC weekly honors section for 2009.  Daniels powered the Mustangs to their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory this past Saturday with a 3-1 win in Newton, Massachusetts.  Daniels notched a hat trick scoring all three goals netted by Mount Ida in dramatic fashion.  After the Raiders tied the score at 1-1 following Daniels first goal of the game, he came back in the 85th minute of play scoring his second of the contest to regain the lead and ultimately the victory.  He tallied his third with less than two minutes remaining in the contest sealing it for the Mustangs.

Along with Daniels, five other Mustang student-athletes were named to the GNAC weekly honor roll section this week.  The honor roll consists of players who were nominated for player-of-the-week but did not get the selection but are still recognized for an outstanding overall week.  Men's soccer sophomore goalkeeper Steven Enright (South Kingston, RI/Prout), women's volleyball junior setter Kira Feeter (Keene, NH/Keene) and freshman middle Devyn Frank (Mystic, CT/Fitch), and women's soccer junior goalkeeper Meghan Begins (Jericho, VT/Jericho) and freshman striker Heather Harrington (Bedford, NH/Manchester West) were recognized in the honor roll for this week.  Congratulations to all of these student-athletes on a wonderful accomplishment.
