JONES/CASIMIRO NAMED MUSTANGS-OF-THE-WEEK
Mount Ida College men's basketball sophomore guard Keith Jones (Boston, MA/Cathedral) and senior forward/guard Nicole Casimiro (Lee, NH/Oyster River) have been selected as this week's Mustangs-of-the-Week.
In the only game the Mount Ida men's basketball team has played thus far this season, Jones netted a game high 20 points along with five rebounds and four assists going 10-10 from the free throw line in an 82-71 non-conference victory over visiting Eastern Nazarene College last Thursday. Jones and the Mustangs will travel to UMASS-Boston annual Harbor Tournament starting Friday, November 27th through the weekend.
Casimiro led the Mount Ida women's basketball team to a 2-2 overall first week of action scoring in double digits (20, 15, 16) in three out of the four games played. Casimiro and her team captured the consolation game in the 2009 Hampton Inn tournament hosted by UMASS-Dartmouth over the weekend. Casimiro put the Mustangs ahead for good with 3:49 to play with a three pointer from the corner and scored nine of her team's final 13 points in a 60-56 third place win over Green Mountain College. She recorded a team high 16 points, five rebounds, five assists, three steals and three blocks during the victory. The Mount Ida women's basketball team will host visiting Westfield State College this Tuesday night for their second home game of the season.
