FRESHMAN JOHN FIGUEROA NAMED MUSTANG-OF-THE-WEEK

Mount Ida College men's basketball freshman John Figueroa (Hartford, CT/Howell Cheney Tech.) has been named this week's Mustang-of-the-Week.  Figueroa has been a solid addition to the Mustangs so far this season helping his team to an impressive start at 6-2 overall, 1-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.  Figueroa was a perfect 4-4 from downtown adding 14 points on Tuesday night in the Mustangs first GNAC loss of the season to Emerson College falling 66-61.  He followed up on Thursday night with his best performance on the year netting a game high 26 points, going a near perfect 5-6 from three-point land, in an 86-73 non-conference victory over hosting Fitchburg State College. 

Figueroa is averaging 8.1 points in eight games this season and is by far the teams best three point threat shooting an impressive .481 from downtown (13-27).  The Mustangs will have one more final contest before the holiday break Monday night at hosting non-conference Wheelock College starting at 7:30 p.m.
