DARREN MARTINEZ NAMED MUSTANG-OF-THE-WEEK

Mount Ida College men's basketball senior Darren Martinez (Dorchester, MA/Brookline) has been selected as this week's Mustang-of-the-Week.  This is the first time Martinez has been recognized with this award this season.  He led the Mustangs to a 2-1 overall week in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play with two victories over Rivier College (74-57) and Suffolk University (80-74) with 14 points and four assists over the Raiders and a season high 25 points and eight rebounds against the Rams.  In an 88-79 loss to Albertus Magnus College, Martinez recorded 20 points and eight assists on Thursday night. 

Martinez is having the best season since becoming a Mustang three years ago transferring from UMASS-Dartmouth.  The captain is averaging 15.5 points a game, second behind Mount Ida's leading scorer sophomore Keith Jones (Boston, MA/Cathedral) (20.6).  He has compiled 256 total assists in three seasons of play.

The Mount Ida men's basketball team will host GNAC powerhouse St. Joseph's College (ME) this coming Saturday starting at 1:00 p.m.
