SOPHOMORE TRAVIS HILLERY NAMED MUSTANG-OF-THE-WEEK

Mount Ida College men's basketball sophomore Travis Hillery (Tyngsboro, MA/Central Catholic) has been selected as this week's Mustang-of-the-Week.  Hillery notched his highest totals of the season for points (21) and rebounds (11) in a 78-76 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over hosting Johnson & Wales University last Saturday night good for his third double-double of the season.    The victory was the Mustangs second conference win of the season putting them in third in the GNAC standings.

Hillery's numbers are much improved from last season averaging 13.8 a game in 2009-2010, a big jump from 2008-2009's totals of 5.1 points per game.  His rebounding has also improved drastically grabbing an average of 3.5 last year and has almost doubled his total this season with 6.2 per game.  In 10 games played so far, Hillery has almost matched his minute totals from last year (332) when he played in 22 contests his freshman year.  He has tallied 307 minutes so far in his sophomore season.  Travis is one of the strongest players on the team as well as one of the biggest playing a very crucial role in the paint for Mount Ida.

The Mustangs will travel to GNAC member Rivier College this coming Tuesday night for more conference action starting at 7:00 p.m. in Nashua, New Hampshire.
