DARNELL/FUSCO SELECTED AS MUSTANG-OF-THE-WEEK

Mount Ida College senior women’s volleyball captain Chelsea Darnell (Dublin, OH/Dublin Scioto)  and junior setter Cody Fusco (San Francisco, CA/San Francisco Waldorf) have been named this week’s Mustang-of-the-Week for Monday October 4, 2010.   This is the first time this season either of these players have been selected for this award.

The Mustangs were a perfect 3-0 this week with victories over non-conference Lesley University winning 3-0 on Thursday night and added two more non-conference wins in a tri-match over hosting Elms College and visiting Becker College all by scores of 3-0. 

Darnell led her team in kills in nine sets played with 31 on 69 attempts with only six errors and a hitting percentage of .362.  She also added three service aces and 16 digs for the week.   She now leads the team in kills for the season with 130. 

Fusco was a setting machine this week dishing out 47 total assists in three matches played through nine games recording two service aces and 16 digs. 

The Mustangs will travel to hosting non-conference opponent Daniel Webster College Thursday evening in Nashua, New Hampshire starting at 7:00 p.m.  And will then head to Norwich University for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match Saturday against the Cadets and visiting St. Joseph College (CT).
