WIDE OUT NICK LYNCH SELECTED AS MUSTANG-OF-THE-WEEK

Mount Ida College football junior wide receiver Nick Lynch (Hampton Bays, NY/Hampton Bays) has been selected as this week’s Mustang-of-the-week.  This is the first time all season Nick has been honored with this award.  Nick was also named as the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference’s (ECFC) co-offensive player of the week for his first recognition from the conference this year.

Lynch hauled in seven catches for 128 yards and four touchdowns en route to a 69-18 ECFC victory over visiting Anna Maria College Saturday afternoon in Newton, Massachusetts on senior day.  Lynch scored four out of the first five Mount Ida touchdowns recorded in the game.

Lynch is Mount Ida’s leading receiver averaging 99.4 yards a game through the air good for second in the ECFC.

In one game, Lynch tied his touchdown total from all of last season with four scores; he now has 10 on the season, three touchdowns away from tying the season record of 13.  He is 80 yards shy of breaking the all-time record for receiving yards in a season and is 105 yards shy of becoming the first person to eclipse 1000 yards receiving in a single year.

Lynch broke the record for receptions in a season during the game with 61 catches for the year with one contest remaining.

The Mustangs will travel to non-conference Hartwick College this coming Saturday for their final game of the season with kick-off slated for 1:00 p.m.
