JIMMY MCALLISTER NAMED GNAC GOALTENDER-OF-THE-WEEK

Mount Ida College men’s lacrosse junior netminder James McAllister (Smithfield, RI/LaSalle Academy) has been named this week’s Mustang-of-the-Week.  Jimmy was also named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference’s (GNAC) Goaltender-of-the-Week is as well as the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player-of-the-Week.  Jimmy has been named Goaltender-of-the-Week three times this season. 

McAllister led the Mustangs to a 3-0 week with two GNAC wins (7-6 Lasell) (9-8 Becker) and one out of conference win over Massachusetts Maritime capturing a 13-4 victory. For the week, McAllister had 48 saves.  Against the Lasers he had a career high 26 saves while only allowing six goals. McAllister has 170 saves on the year with a save percentage of 65%.

With that win over Lasell, Mount Ida captured the 2011 regular season conference championship and will host semifinal action this Thursday after a first round bye.   They will play St. Joseph’s College (ME) this Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
