SENIOR JEILEEN RIVERA NAMED MUSTANG-OF-THE-WEEK

Mount Ida College women’s basketball senior captain Jeileen Rivera (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) has been named this week’s Mustang of the week.   This is the first time Rivera has been recognized this season in any capacity. 

Rivera led the Mustangs to back-to-back victories this past week notching 15 points and 11 rebounds in a 62-43 non-league victory at UMASS-Boston Tuesday evening.  On Thursday evening Rivera added 13 points and six boards against visiting non-conference Western New England University winning 53-50.

The women’s basketball team has extended their winning streak to six games improving to 6-3 for the season.  They haven’t lost since November 22 after capturing a 62-56 victory over visiting non-league foe Westfield State University.

Fourth year head coach Jack Casey and the Mustangs will head to Fitchburg State University Tuesday evening with game time slated for 7:00 p.m. for their final contest of 2011.
