The Mount Ida College men’s and women’s basketball teams have both made it to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament and will get on the road starting tomorrow for quarterfinal round action.
The men’s hoops team has made the tournament for the second year in a row and will be the eighth seed traveling to number one seeded St. Joseph’s College (ME) Tuesday, February 22, 2011 with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m. The Mustangs lost both decisions against the Monks this season falling 74-52 in Standish, Maine. Mount Ida hosted the Monks this past Saturday in their final regular season game of the year losing in a very close 80-74 loss on senior day.
For the first time since joining the GNAC four years ago, the women’s hoops team will be the seventh seed and will have a shorter trip to downtown Boston, Massachusetts to face number two seeded Suffolk University Tuesday, February 22, 2011 with tip-off slated for 7:00 p.m. The Mustangs lost their only match-up of the season against the Rams back on January 27, 2011 falling 66-42.
