MOUNT IDA ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME

The Mount Ida College Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes the significant accomplishments of those who have played an important role in the development of athletics on our campus - whether as a student athlete, a coach or department member, a supporter or an athlete who was not able to participate due to the extent of the College athletic program at the time. The first class was inducted in 1999 and the Hall of Fame currently consists of 20 individuals.

Nikolaidis was described by her teammates during her playing days on the volleyball court as a fierce competitor.  Nikolaidis led the Mustangs two four consecutive North Atlantic Conference (NAC) titles from 2002-2005 that led to three NCAA post-season tournament appearances.  She was named NAC Player-of-the-Year twice and was honored with NAC first team all-conference honors ever year she played and was also selected as a NAC all-tournament player three times.  A three year team captain from 2003-2005, Nikolaidis led her team to an impressive 31-2 overall NAC record throughout her four year tenure with the program.  She was named the team’s Most-Valuable-Player in 2003.

“There has never been a more focused, determined, and dedicated competitor to ever wear a Mustang uniform,” said ninth year head coach Skip Tately.  “Christina’s strong work ethic, knowledge of the game, and her refusal to give up made her the best player on the court in every contest she played in.”

Nikolaidis’s would be recognized through most of the offensive and defensive statistical records for the Mount Ida women’s volleyball program.  She is second all-time in kills (853) and number one overall in kills per set (2.76).  She held the record for digs in a career for half a decade until it was recently broken last year compiling 1,349 total digs adding 4.37 digs per game good for fourth all-time.  Nikolaidis is third overall in points (1,099.0) as well as third all-time in points per set (3.56).
