Dr. True has served Mount Ida College as Vice President for Student Affairs since 2003 and previously held the position of Dean of Students at the College. This past year she was named as the Vice President to the Athletic Department taking over for Dr. Lance Carluccio, the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Prior to her Mount Ida tenure, Dr. True served as Associate Dean for Campus Life at Castleton State College in Vermont and held positions in Residence Life at Cornell University and the University of Maine.
Dr. True received her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Vermont. Her dissertation, "A Reconstruction of Feminist Identity Development in College Women" involved a qualitative study of the cognitive and psychosocial development of college women.
Dr. True serves as the State Coordinator of the American Council of Education National Network of Women Leaders and is the former Vermont State Coordinator of the ACE NNWL. She is a past member of the New England Research Center on Higher Education Student Affairs Think Tank. An active member and former state chair of the American College Personnel Association as well as a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, Dr. True is chairing registration for the 2008 NASPA National Convention Committee.
Dr. True advises the College's Outing Club, Mount Ida College Outdoors, and volunteers with students at many civic engagement and service events. She is actively involved with the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure, the annual MICO/Charles River clean-up project, and the Second Step Shelter in Newton.
Dr. True recently presented a workshop at the recent First Year Experience Conference in Phoenix, Arizona titled, "Managing Millennial Parents.""
