BOSTON COLLEGE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR VISITS MUSTANGS

Boston College Director of Athletics Gene DeFilippo visited the campus of Mount Ida College this past Monday afternoon as a guest speaker during the athletic department's annual staff meeting before the start of the 2009/2010 season.
Mount Ida College Director of Athletics, Dr. Jacqueline Palmer, was thrilled with the opportunity to have DeFilippo speak for her staff. "Gene is a wonderful sports ethicist and leader in the field of athletics. Mount Ida and the staff were delighted to have Gene come and speak to us during our annual staff meeting before the upcoming season", said Dr. Palmer.
DeFilippo said, "Great people, unbelievable work ethic, and communication are critical ingredients for success. We must always remember our job is to help shape the lives of our athletes positively with athletic experiences offering quality moments in their lives. As educators we need to be proud of what we do."
DeFilippo, who has been the AD for the Eagles since 1997, has been involved in collegiate athletics since 1973 when he was a graduate assistant football coach at the University of Tennessee. After a two year stint with the Volunteers, DeFilippo moved on to Youngstown State University as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator from 1975-79.
