PEMBERTON/GATELY COMBINE FOR RIDER-OF-THE-WEEK
Mount Ida College women’s equestrian senior captain Lila Pemberton (Littleton, MA/Acton-Boxboro Regional) and junior Lauren Gately (Rockland, MA/Norfolk Country Agricultural/Rockland Regional) have been named this week’s Rider-of-the-Week.
The Mustangs traveled to Bates College for their first show of the spring season coming in third place with 37 total team points against Bates, Bowdoin College, and the University of New England last Saturday.
Pemberton captured first place in the open flat division and place second in open fences. Gately also enjoyed a solid overall performance in the open flat placing first in her division and a third place finish in open fences.
Pemberton was one of three riders who tied for high point rider. After each of the three riders was asked a question by the judge, Lila was appointed high point rider, and is now holds a strong lead for the open level rider standings.
The Mount Ida College women’s equestrian team will travel to the University of New Hampshire this coming Saturday for their second show of the spring.
