MOUNT IDA COLLEGE 2010 HOMECOMING IS HERE
This Saturday opens the start of the 2010 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) season with defending ECFC champion Norwich University coming to town after the Mustangs dropped a 49-14 loss in the conference title game last November in Northfield, Vermont on a cold and saturated Sabine Field in the conference's inaugural season.
The Mustangs ended their 2009 bid in second place in the ECFC with an overall record of 4-7, 4-2 in conference play while the Cadets captured their first ever championship finishing the season 8-3 and a perfect 6-0 in the league.
Mount Ida College running back and pre-season all-American, junior Johrone Bunch (Meriden, CT/F.T. Maloney), was stymied by the awful condition of the field and a strong Cadet defense gaining only 107 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries. Sophomore quarterback Scott Drosendahl (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) completed 11-of-23 passes for 159 yards and the one TD to junior wide out Nick Lynch (Hampton Bays, NY/Hampton Bays).
Norwich finished with 403 yards rushing and 490 yards of total offense. The Cadets possessed the ball for more than 32 minutes in the contest.
Norwich University holds a perfect 12-0 record against Mount Ida College since they started playing each other back in 2000 which was the second varsity season in Mustang football history. Mount Ida has come close in the past losing 21-20 in 2004 against the Cadets during the most successful season in the program's history that year going 6-2 for their highest win total in 11 years. The Mustangs lost twice to the Cadets last season not only in the ECFC title game but on September 26, 2009 in week four falling 28-6 during regular season conference play.
It's also homecoming this Saturday with a plethora of events being held on and off campus. Information links are listed below for all your 2010 homecoming needs.
