MATT BONOMOLO LANDS ESPN RADIO INTERNSHIP FOR SUMMER
Mount Ida College football starting center and sophomore sport management student Matthew Bonomolo (Pearl River, NY/Nanuet) has been hired and accepted an internship position at 1050 ESPN Radio in New York City at Madison Square Garden.
This is a 12 credit internship position where he will accrue 600 hours with the worldwide sports broadcasting juggernaut for the summer. Bonomolo is extremely honored to get the position and sees it as a dream come true for him.
“I have always wanted to work with ESPN Radio since I was a young kid and to be able to get the chance this summer and complete my 12 credit internship is really a great accomplishment for me,” said Bonomolo. This is a great opportunity and I believe it is a great stepping stone to help me get started with my career.”
In this job, Bonomolo will be working within the different aspect of marketing, event planning, and sales as well as working behind the scenes as a statistics and trivia question researcher for the on air radio hosts.
Bonomolo is extremely active on campus crediting his experiences and success in the classroom, on the field, and in the Sports information office with Sports Information Director Gregory Antonelli to help in landing the opportunity.
“I have been working in the sports information office for two years now and to be able to get the experience in writing stories, setting up interviews, and learning programs such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Statcrew software were very helpful during the interviewing process.”
Bonomolo is in the honors program at Mount Ida College and was
chosen as a member of the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference
All Academic Team. On the field Bonomolo has started at center 20
games in his career and was apart of the first team ever to receive
an invitation to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC)
North Atlantic Bowl.
“I’ve been impressed with how easily Matthew has
grasped the aspects of sports information I’ve taught him
through the past two years,” said Sports Information Director
Gregory Antonelli. “He is driven to succeed in the
sports world and will leave Mount Ida with the tools to excel long
term. This is an opportunity not many sophomore college kids
get to experience. He’s the type of student that will
take this chance and make the best of it.”
