Matt Minich will be entering his fourth season as an assistant coach for the Mount Ida College football program.  He will be handling the defensive backs position and coach-in-residence.  Minich is also the academic advisor for the team as well.

Minich came to the Mustangs from South Dakota State University where he served as a graduate assistant and was assigned to coach the tight ends and running backs. He was responsible for game day operations, scouting reports, film review, and the academic performance of the student athletes.     

His playing experience dates back to 2002, while studying for his associates degree at Minnesota West.  He was a two-time recipient of the conference academic award and voted Mr. Hustle as a sophomore. 

Minich will be working as the academic advisor to the football team.  His academic background is impressive.  While a baccalaureate student, he was a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society, and National Scholars Honor Society.  Minich studied abroad at Oxford University in Great Britain for a semester. 

Minich received his Associate Degree at Minnesota West in 2004 and his Bachelor's of Science degree from SDSU in 2006.  In 2008 he completed a Master's of Science degree from SDSU graduating magna cum laude.
