As a Sophomore in 2007-08: Darren took over the starting point guard spot and averaged 7.0 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game and 3.7 assists per game. Darren was awarded Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie-of-the-Week on February 4, 2008 and by the end of the year he was the Mustangs' Most Improved Player.

As a Junior in 2008-09: Darren emerged as a team leader and became team captain as he appeared in all 25 games averaging 8.1 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game and 4.0 assists per game. With continuous improvement, Darren was awarded the GNAC Sportsmanship Award.                                                                                           

Before Mount Ida: Darren attended Brookline High School where he was a senior tri-captain and was nominated as a Second Team Bay-State All-Star his senior year. Darren also set a school record of 15 assists in a game without a turnover his senior year against Weymouth High School.
