DARREN MARTINEZ FEATURED IN BOSTON GLOBE SOUTH

Mount Ida College men's basketball senior captain Darren Martinez (Dorchester, MA/Brookline) was recently featured in the Boston Globe South section of Thursday's paper highlighting his career as a basketball player growing up in the Boston area.

Martinez has been a member of the Mount Ida College men's basketball team for the past three seasons transferring in after his freshman year as a walk-on at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. In three games so far this season, Martinez has averaged 14.7 points per game good for second behind sophomore Keith Jones (24.0) (Boston, MA/Cathedral). He leads the Mustangs so far with a total of 16 assists and is currently fourth in the Mount Ida men's basketball record books with 204. Martinez ranks second in assists average with 3.9 a game and ninth in steals with 71.

The Mustangs will host their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match-up of the year this coming Tuesday against visiting Emmanuel College starting at 6:00 p.m.
