The visitors commanded an opening nine point advantage up 15-6 followed by a good trifecta from senior Tyler Kelley (Saco, ME/Thornton Academy) with 13:32 on the clock.

After a good lay-in by Mount Ida junior David Gibbs (East Hartford, CT/The Masters School/UMASS-Amherst) cutting the lead to five (19-14), the Monks drained another three by junior Chris Petzy (Kensington, NH/Exeter) up 22-14 with 11:23 remaining before the break.

Mount Ida cut the host advantage back down to five points on a lay-in by junior Keith Jones (Boston, MA/Lake Brantley (FL)/Mass. Bay C.C.) at the 10 minute mark trailing 24-19.

The Mustangs cut the advantage down to a deuce (35-33) with just under four minutes to remaining after two good free throws from Gibbs.

Unfortunately for Mount Ida, the Monks finished the half on a commanding 10-0 run, led by St. Joseph's junior Zach O'Brien (Schenectady, NY/Bishop Gibbons) heading into the locker room up 45-33.

The Mustangs were impressive in the first half from downtown shooting 50 percent going 8-16.  The Monks were unconscious from the arc, more so than Mount Ida, shooting 70 percent going 7-10 in the first stanza.

The visitors pulled ahead by 18 points to start the second half up 51-33 within opening three minutes capped on a lay-in by sophomore Julio Vazquez (Waterbury, CT/Crosby).

The double digit advantage by the hosts continued eventually going ahead by a game high 23 points up 67-44 following another Kelley trifecta with just under 11 minutes to go in the game.

Mount Ida battled hard and fought back cutting the visiting lead down to 10 points (70-60) with 5:36 remaining in the contest following a junior Nick Lynch (Hampton Bays, NY/Hampton Bays).

The small margin did not last long while the visitors mounted a 9-0 after two Petzy free throws with the Mustangs down 79-60 trailing by 19 points with on four minutes to go.

Mount Ida could only get as close as 11 points and eventually took the quarterfinal loss, 82-71, finished off  following two good free throws from Mustang senior Brain Hapgood (Braintree, MA/Braintree).

Gibbs led Mount Ida with a game high 25 points along with six rebounds and five assists.  Junior Isiah Benjamin (Windsor, CT/The Masters School) added 18 points going 6-8 from downtown while grabbing four caroms in the process.  Junior captain Travis Hillery (Tyngsboro, MA/Central Catholic) chipped in seven boards and seven points respectively.
