Rico Cabral is in his 20th season as the Mustangs Men's Basketball head coach. Throughout Cabral's entire 32 year career, he has compiled a 455-338 overall record through three different levels of the game.
Prior to joining the Mustangs staff in 1991, he was the head men's basketball coach at Massasoit Community College for five years compiling an overall record of 108-50 throughout his tenure. Cabral has also served as an assistant men's basketball coach at St. Bonaventure University and Boston College, a pair of NCAA Division I institutions. Additionally, he skippered the Marshfield High School boys basketball team from 1979-1985 and has an overall record of 66-60 in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).
A six-time NJCAA XXI Coach of the Year, Cabral earned North Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year honors in the 1999-2000 season and in the 2000-2001 campaign, when he directed the Mustangs to their first-ever NAC title. Overall, Cabral has compiled a record of 281-228 (.552) between NJCAA and NCAA competition (131-177 NCAA, 150-51 NJCAA) while at Mount Ida. He was recently inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
Cabral brings outstanding athletic coaching and playing experience to the Mustang program after participating in four sports at Sharon High School where he graduated from in 1969. The school later voted Cabral into its high school Hall of Fame.
He attended Boston State College and served as captain before graduating in 1976. Cabral went on to receive his master's degree in education at Cambridge College and is a C.A.G.S candidate at Fitchburg State College.
Cabral resides in Walpole with his wife Patti and has two sons, Joseph and Michael. Joseph is currently a senior on the Mount Ida men's basketball team playing hoops with Dad.

Peter Stathakis will be entering his third season as assistant coach for the Mount Ida College men's basketball program. He will work alongside long time Head Coach Rico Cabral and assist in all operations and recruiting aspects of the program.
A 2007 graduate from Western New England College in Springfield, Massachusetts, Stathakis was a four year member of the Golden Bears men's basketball team.
His first coaching experience came in 2007 as assistant men's basketball coach at Western New England College assisting in day-to-day operations, player development, tape exchange, recruiting prospective student-athletes, opponent scouting, game strategy, strength and conditioning, and clinic and camp operations.
Stathakis graduated from Western New England College in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Sport Management. He will graduate from WNEC with a Masters in Business Administration in 2010 with his concentration in Sport Management.

Steven Enright has been hired to join the Mount Ida College men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach under the wing of 20 year head coach Rico Cabral. Enright has an extensive background with Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball in the New England regional, primarily in Rhode Island as a native of South Kingstown.
Recently Enright was an assistant men’s basketball coach with the Endicott College Gulls in Beverly, Massachusetts. His responsibilities included contacting recruits, assisting recruiting coordinator with travel scheduling, help coordinate recruiting visits and assist in day-to-day operations within the program under the direction of head coach Phil Rowe.
From 2008 to 2011 Enright was the Co-Director and head coach of the New England Cyclones AAU basketball team. He was responsible for 16 teams at the fifth thru 11th grade level expanding on their development as basketball players and young men. He oversaw the finances, operations, and day-to-day running of the program.
Enright has been involved in multiple camps and basketball services for rising players through his AAU experiences.
He is expected to graduate from Mount Ida College this spring with a degree in Sport Management and a concentration in Coaching.
