MOUNT IDA MEN'S LAX STAYS PERFECT IN NORTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE (NAC) BEATING DANIEL WEBSTER 14-1, Four Mustangs Tally Two a Piece
Four Mustang Men’s Lacrosse players scored two goals a
piece in a 14-1 rout against North Atlantic Conference (NAC)
opponent Daniel Webster College this Wednesday at Mount Ida
Athletic Field. MIC would improve to 7-4 overall and a perfect 4-0
in the NAC, while the Eagles drop to 1-4 on the season, 0-4 in
league play.
The Mustangs would net every goal in the first quarter all by
different players including two first time season scores for senior
Luke Philip Wilson (Essex, MA/Ipswich),
sophomore Kevin Mulvey (Peabody,
MA/Peabody), and freshman Breadan Draper
(Lexington, KY/Lexington Catholic/Nazareth). Mount
Ida would lead 7-0 after the first set with junior
Brett Conley (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield
Warde), freshman Dan Harrington
(Westford, MA/Westford Academy), freshmen
Frank Rozio (Clinton, CT/Morgan) and
Matt Savage (Peabody, MA/Peabody) also
tallying goals following the first timers.
The Eagles would finally get on the board, their only score of the
contest, in the opening thirty ticks of the second half on a goal
by junior Ryan Manning (Newport, NH/Kimball Union) making it
8-1.
That would be the visitors only score, while Mount Ida piled on
seven more goals to take the 14-1 victory. Freshman
Paul Battipaglia (Clinton, CT/Morgan),
sophomore John Perez (Dorchester,
MA/Wayland), Savage and Rozio would all net two each
in the win. Junior Leo Shidler (Peabody,
MA/Peabody) also tallied one for his 14 score of the
season.
The Mustangs beat the Eagles on the ground as well picking up 50
ground balls to the 24 of the visitors. The hosts would also hold
DWC to eight shots while MIC fired 45 at the goal.
Mount Ida will leave Newton, MA and head to Maine Maritime Academy
this Saturday for another conference match-up with the opening face
off coming at 1:00 p.m.
