MEN'S LAX NCAA BOUND, WILL TRAVEL TO SPRINGFIELD
The Mount Ida College men's lacrosse team will travel to Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts this coming Wednesday for the opening round of the NCAA championship tournament, game time is set for 7:00 p.m. You can find directions to the Springfield College campus here
This is the Mustangs third trip in as many years to the big dance after they captured their sixth consecutive North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship over Castleton State College this past Saturday getting the automatic bid.
The winner of the game will then travel to square off against last season's national runner up, Cortland State, on Saturday. Mount Ida stands at 13-6 on the year and ended their NAC 2009 schedule with a record of 9-1.
The two teams have a pair of common opponents. The Mustangs defeated Babson 8-7, while the Pride defeated Babson twice, 22-6 in the regular season and 24-4 in the Pilgrim League Tournament semifinals. Springfield and Mount Ida both lost to Amherst during the season, with the Mustangs falling 17-5 and the Pride dropping a 5-6 decision to the Lord Jeffs.
