THREE MEN'S LAXERS HONORED TO NAC ALL-ACADEMIC

Three Mount Ida College men's lacrosse players were selected to the 2008-09 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) all-academic team this past season.  Senior's Craig Heintzelman (Windham, NH/Salem/Forensic Science) and Brett Conley (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde/Business Management), and junior goaltender Matt Vernik (Bethany, CT/Amity Regional/Criminal Justice) were among the three players honored with this accomplishment.  To be honored, the student-athlete must have reached junior academic standing, have completed a minimum two years in their sport with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50.  This is the first time any of these players have been recognized for this accolade.

The Mount Ida College men's lacrosse team captured its sixth consecutive NAC championship over conference rival Castleton State College, 25-9, gaining their third straight NCAA tournament birth through an automatic bid.  Conley, a four-time all-conference selection, was named NAC player-of-the-year leading the league in assists with 33 during conference play. He was also honored as the conference player-of-the-year during his freshman season in 2006, tallied 17 goals leading Mount Ida to their sixth straight NAC championship victory.

Congratulations to these three young men on this wonderful achievement.
