PROPHETE TO PLAY IN NORTH/SOUTH ALL-STAR GAME

Mount Ida College senior men's lacrosse player Christopher Prophete (Waltham, MA/Waltham) has recently been selected to play in the 2009 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's (USILA) 68th Annual Division III Men's Lacrosse Senior All-Star game this coming Friday at Harvard University starting at 2:00 p.m.  He is the first player ever in Mount Ida men's lacrosse history to be chosen to play in this game.

"It's an honor to be a part of this, especially as the first person in Mount Ida's history to play.  I'm really excited to represent my school", said Prophete.

Prophete, who missed all of last season with a knee injury, worked very hard to bounce back and be a force in 2009.  "My three years on the lacrosse team at Mount Ida has been a great life changing experience.  Three North Atlantic Conference championships and three NCAA appearances is something not many players get to experience throughout their college career and I'm very proud of that", said Prophete.  "Coach (Andrew) Fink taught me a sense of responsibility and hard work that has made me into the player and person I am today."

Prophete had an outstanding 2009 season tallying 27 goals, 13 assists, for 40 points ranking fourth on the team.  He was honored with NAC first team all-conference honors for the first time in his career as well as a NAC all-tournament team selection after the Mustangs snatched their sixth consecutive conference title in as many years over rival Castleton State College 25-9.

"I'm really excited to get this opportunity to play with some of the best players in the nation in Division III", said Prophete.  "I really want to thank my Mom who has worked so hard as a single parent to give me so many wonderful opportunities to go to school and get an education and play the game I've loved my whole life."

Mount Ida College men's lacrosse Head Coach Andrew Fink is very happy with the selection of Prophete to the North/South All-Star game.  "We're very excited for Chris and the program.  This will give us individual and national exposure and get the Mount Ida name out there for future recruits", said Coach Fink.

In three years as a Mustang, 2009 was his best season in a Mount Ida uniform.  Throughout his entire career he tallied 58 goals, 37 assists, and 95 points in three seasons.
