MOUNT IDA TAKES NECVA LOSS TO JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY
The Mount Ida College Men’s Volleyball team headed down to
Providence, RI tonight to face Johnson & Wales University
losing 3-1. The Mustangs fall to 3-12 on the year, 2-7 in the
Northeast Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA), while the
Wildcats better to 7-7 overall, 4-3 in league play.
The hosts took the first game by a score of 30-24. In the second
game, Mt. Ida held a 28-22 advantage before the Wildcats rallied to
tie the game at 28-28. The two teams then went back and forth until
the Mustangs pulled away for the 32-20 win to tie the game at 1-1.
JWU responded with a commanding 30-19 win in game three and took
the 3-1 victory after a 30-23 win in game four.
Leading the way for Mt. Ida was Senior Tim Hughes
(Holliston, MA/Holliston) with 34 kills and 16 digs
while Junior Bryan McMenamin (Warminster, PA/William
Tennant) added 34 set assists in the setback for the
Mustangs.
Johnson & Wales junior Sean Lauro (West Roxbury, Mass.)
registered a double-double with 17 kills and 15 digs while junior
Kyle Phalen (Torrington, Conn.) added 14 kills for the
Wildcats.
The Mustangs will travel to the Wentworth Institute of Technology
this Thursday for a 7:00 p.m. start.
