HASTINGS/BELTON SELECTED TO GNAC ALL-CONFERENCE

Two Mount Ida College men's volleyball players were selected as Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) all-conference players to finish the 2011 season on a high note.  Sophomore captain Spencer Hastings from Orlando, Florida was a first team all-conference selection while senior captain Thomas Belton from Springfield, Massachusetts was honored to the second team.

Belton and Hastings both were key components to the Mustangs this season that finished the year 8-19 with a second place finish in the Bard College Tournament.

Belton, who was named to 2nd team all-conference, was a big part of the Mustangs this season providing senior leadership on and off the court. This season Belton led the Mustangs in kills (321), was second in the team with 63 blocks and fourth on the team in digs with 100. Belton was the second player in Mount Ida men's volleyball history to eclipse 1,000 kills.  He got over the 1,000 point threshold in the second to last contest of the season.

Hastings was named to first team all-conference for the Mustangs. In his second year with the team Hastings was the leader in blocks (84), digs (203) and sets played (94). Hastings was also second on team in total kills (311). Hastings also ranked 25th nationally with 3.31 kills per set.

Congratulations to Thomas Belton, Spencer Hastings and all the recipients who were named to GNAC all-conference.
