Reed's Eight Kill Effort Leads Men's Volleyball To Non-League Sweep At Southern Vermont

BENNINGTON, Vt. --  Freshman Isaac Reed (Keene, N.H.) recorded eight kills and a pair of digs to lead Mount Ida to a 3-0 non-league college men’s volleyball victory over Southern Vermont Tuesday evening at the Mountaineer Athletic Center.

 

Sophomore Kevin Vanderhorst (Lawrence, Mass.) added seven kills, six digs and two service aces in the triumph for the visiting Mustangs (11-15), who received six kills and six digs from junior Brett Southworth (Orange, Conn.).  Junior Nate Gyampo (Providence, R.I.) collected five kills and seven digs for Mount Ida, which also received five kills from sophomore Andre Foster (Davis, Calif.) as well as three kills from freshman Tyler Dorfman (West Hartford, Conn.).  Sophomore Kevin Keohane (Jefferson, N.J.) registered 35 set assists and five digs for the visitors, who received two kills and a pair of digs from junior Tyler Shinkle (West Deptford, N.J.) along with a combined six digs from junior Ethan Souza (Acushnet, Mass.) and freshman Mason Leonard (Langdon, N.H.) in completing a two-match season sweep between the two schools.

 

Sophomore Te Hayward (Baltimore, Md.) notched a match-high nine kills and seven digs in the setback for the host Mountaineers (0-16), who received 10 set assists, six digs and four kills from junior Isaiah Backels (Derry, N.H.).  Junior Adrian Dickerson (Bristol, Vt.) added two kills and six digs for Southern Vermont, which received eight digs from senior El Olivares (Miami, Fla.).

 

Mount Ida heads to Cambridge, Mass. on Thursday evening to take on Lesley in a non-league match that begins at 8:00 p.m., while Southern Vermont hosts Dean in a New England Collegiate Conference clash on Saturday afternoon at the Mountaineer Athletic Center beginning at 1:00 p.m.
