SOFTBALL DROPS OPENING TWIN BILL TO CASE WESTERN

The Mount Ida College women's softball team kicked off this season in Coco Beach, Florida for their annual spring break tournament this Sunday dropping both ends of a double header against Case Western Reserve University by scores of 4-1 and 8-0.  The Mustangs fall to 0-2 overall and in day one of the tournament.

Senior captain Kerri Kwasek (Framingham, MA/Framingham) and Erica Belliveau (Tewksbury, MA/Tewksbury) notched a double a piece with Kwasek going 2-3 at the plate as well as going the distance on the mound.  The Mustangs dropped their opening bid 4-1 in a tight game that just didn't go their way but saw some promising individual performances.

A three error, four run first inning to start game two put the Mustangs in a hole they could not climb out of in an 8-0 loss to Case Western in the back end of Sunday's twin bill.  Although the Mustangs notched six hits, they could not put together enough to get a run across the plate.  Sophomore Becky Tisbert (Cambridge, VT/Lamoille Union) enjoyed a multi-hit game going 2-3 at the dish.  Belliveau would also add a hit in the contest.

Mount Ida softball will begin day two of the tournament tomorrow against Alfred University in game one and the University of New England in game two starting at 9:00 a.m.
