MUSTANG SOFTBALL VOLUNTEERS AT BRIAN HONAN 5K

The Mount Ida College softball team and over 100 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) student-athletes volunteered at the Brian Honan 5K in Allston, Massachusetts this past Sunday, September 20th, 2009. GNAC student-athletes have volunteered over the past six years, directing people to the parking lots, registering the 1000 runners, cutting oranges, carrying ice and handing out water along the three mile route.
It was a wonderful opportunity for Mustang softball to help in
the operation in the Brian Honan 5K along with other
student-athletes from around the conference," said Mount Ida
softball Assistant Coach Kelly Stanton. "It was a great
chance for our players to aid in such a wonderful event and hope we
can help again in future races."
The Brian J. Honan Charitable Fund was established to carry on
Brian's commitment to the causes that he championed throughout the
course of his life. Money raised through the Brian J. Honan 5K Road
race benefits the Scholarship funds of the Allston Board of Trade
and the Brighton Board of Trade. The Race also benefits the Honan
family's charitable fund.
With funds raised from the Brian J. Honan 5K the Charitable Fund
has been able to aid and foster local and national programs that
support education, recreation, housing and healthcare.
