WINTHROP, Mass. – Freshman Hayley Microulis (Pawtucket, R.I.) and sophomore Kaitlyn Muhlenforth (Bohemia, N.Y.) were both recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference on Monday afternoon with Third Team All-Conference Selections.
Microulis, who was selected at the infield position and Muhlenforth, who earned the utility slot on the GNAC team, were at the top of most offensive categories for the Mustangs this past spring.
Both led Mount Ida with 34 hits on the season and had a team high 13 RBIs for the Mustangs. Muhlenforth held a staggering .370 batting average which was good for 15th in the GNAC while Microulis was second on the team and not far behind with a .366 BA, good for 17th in the conference. Muhlenforth and Microulis also had an identical on-base percentage of .404 on the year while they boasted a .489 and .452 slugging percentage respectively.
Muhlenforth, a sophomore who played nearly every position including pitcher, and Microulis, who settled into the third base position early in her freshman year, are both being recognized with their first All-Conference selections.
Mount Ida sophomore Shannon McArthur (Coventry, R.I.) was also recognized with a selection to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
The trio were all part of a Mount Ida squad that made a return trip to the GNAC tournament after a dramatic doubleheader sweep on the final day of the regular season.
