WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WINS FIRST GREAT NORTHEAST ATHLETIC BID AGAINST PINE MANOR COLLEGE, Senior Lauren Hickey stays hot with 15

Senior guard Lauren Hickey (Enosburg Falls, VT/Richford) enjoyed another stellar performance netting 15 points and five steals while the Mustangs cruised to a 73-54 win this past Saturday at Pine Manor College. The victory would be their fourth of the season and their first ever win against a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent.

Hickey picked up right where she left off against Framingham State this past week scoring the first 10 points of the contest for her team on two jumpers and two from downtown making it 10-2 in the opening minutes. The Mustangs went wire-to-wire against the Gators leading by as many as 22 towards the end of the first half with 2:43 showing on the clock. Pine Manor fought hard the in the first 12 minutes, only down by six points, but Mount Ida would pile it on until the break up 46-26.

The Mustangs would continue to stretch their advantage throughout the second half leading by a game high 28 with 9:46 to go. Sophomore forward Cherie Parisi (South Attleboro, MA/Attleboro) and Junior guard Elise McLear (Swansea, MA/Case) would turn on the jets for the remainder of the game combining for 31 points and 11 assists. Parisi would record her seventh double-double of the season chipping in 10 boards to go with a team high 17 points. Mount Ida took aim shooting 48 percent from the floor and a solid 75 percent from the charity stripe.

Freshman guard Rebecca Tisbert (Cambridge, VT/Lamoille Union) would dish out six assists while the Mustangs would get good performances from Junior newcomer Ashley Cirillo (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) and Sophomore guard Nicole Casimiro (Lee, NH/Oyster River). The two would combine for a total of 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

Mount Ida will head home this Tuesday, January 15th, to host Daniel Webster College with tip-off starting at 5:00 p.m.
