MOUNT IDA TALLIES FIRST WIN, Junior Elise McLear Scores Career High 24
The Mount Ida College Women’s Basketball team tallied
their first win of this season at home against Bay Path College
tonight winning 81-60. Junior guard Elise McLear
(Swansea, MA/Case) had a career game with 24 points
and six assists leading her team to victory. The Mustangs leave the
game with a 1-3 record while the Wildcats go home and lick their
wounds at 1-2.
It was all Mount Ida leading the whole way through with some
outstanding team play on both sides of the ball. The Mustangs were
in foul trouble early, with three players fouling out, but their
bench players stepped up in key situations to help with their first
victory. It was the home team by 11 at the break up 42-31 with
their first win of the season in sight.
Bay Path kept it close with and incredible performance by sophomore
forward Jessica Hunt (Madison, CT/Daniel Hand) who recorded her
third double-double in as many games with 32 points and 19 boards.
She tallied a career high 37 with 17 rebounds against Lancaster
Bible School this past week.
Cherie Parisi (South Attleboro,
MA/Attleboro) continued her solid play in the forward
position with 13 points and eight off the glass for her second game
in double digits. Freshman guard Brieanna Holiday
(Dummerston, VT/Brattleboro Union) had her best day
in a green uniform with 11 points, four assists, and four steals
with impeccable defensive.
The Mustangs shot 44.2 percent from the floor including 50.0
percent in the first half alone. Hunt was pretty much the only
offense for the visitors with senior forward Chrissy Ordyna (Great
Barrington, MA/Monument Mountain) chipping in nine point with nine
boards. The Wildcats shot 37.7 percent from the floor for the game,
but they were solid from the charity stripe going 13-18 at 72.2
%.
Mount Ida will leave campus and travel to Lesley University this
Thursday, November 29th for an 8:00 p.m. tip off.
