WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TALLIES SECOND WIN, Cherie Parisi nets 21
The Mount Ida College Women’s Basketball team tallied
their second victory of the season today against Anna Maria College
winning 93-57. The Mustangs had four players in double digit
figures including one double-double. Mount Ida betters their record
to 2-4 on the season while the AmCats drop to 1-6.
It was a close game till the 11 minute mark in the first when the
Mustangs pulled away and led at halftime by 13. Sophomore forward
Heidi Allen (Limerick, ME/Cheverus) was
the bulk of the offense for the home team with 11 points and Senior
Crystal Burgess (Lowell, MA/Lowell Regional
Tech.) dropped in 10 giving Mount Ida the 43-30 first
half lead.
The Mustangs would continue to pile it on in the second half with
some outstanding individual performances. Cherie Parisi
(South Attleboro, MA/Attleboro) had a big day
tallying a double-double with 21 points, 16 boards, and three
blocks including nine offensive rebounds. Allen and Burgess had
their biggest days of the year with a combined 39 points and
outstanding defensive play from both of them. Brieanna
Holiday (Dummerston, VT/Brattleboro Union) also had
her best game of the year with 18 points and six steals, playing a
scrappy style of basketball cleaning up her steals and converting
them into points.
The AmCats saw another big game from sophomore guard Julianna
Eagles (Quincy, MA/Fontbonne Academy) who went 3-9 from downtown
and scored 22 points with six rebounds. Sophomore forward Maggie
Sielawa (Webster, MA/Bartlett) grabbed 15 rebounds and added six
points.
The Mustangs shot 47.0 percent from the floor while the AmCats
tallied 30.8 percent. Anna Maria turned the ball over 39 times in
this game with Mount Ida tallying 23 steals.
Mount Ida will be on the road till after the winter semester break,
they will be heading to Becker College this Tuesday for an 8:00
p.m. tip-off.
