JACK CASEY HIRED AS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HEAD COACH

Mount Ida College Athletic Director Dr. Jacqueline Palmer has announced the hiring of the new women's basketball head coach Jack Casey.  Casey will be taking over all the duties and operations of the women's basketball program this coming 2008-09 season. 

Casey comes to the Mustangs after an eight year stint with the Simsbury High School girl's basketball program where he compiled an overall record of 87-86 in the state's largest school class (LL).  He has directed 11 players who have gone onto play women's basketball at the Division I through III college level. 

He is the founder and camp director for the Next Level Girls' Basketball Training camp in Simsbury, CT for the past seven years.  This is a unique basketball experience for girls' in grades 4-12 who are coached by current and former Division I and professional players, many of whom were members of the University of Connecticut women's basketball program. 

Casey is also in his 13th year as the Program Director for the Dan Doyle Kingswood-Oxford Skill Development camp in West Hartford, CT.  A full day co-ed camp ranging from ages 5-14 that provides each camper with individual instruction and a specific Skills Development program.

Casey received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire.  He was a member of the varsity men's basketball team for four years and served as captain his senior year while receiving scholar-athlete honors.

Casey will also be a coach-in-residence in the new residence hall at the college.
