WOMEN'S LAX BACK ON TRACK WITH WIN OVER HOSTING BECKER

Mount Ida College women’s lacrosse received seven goals from junior attacker Jen Thompson (Easton, MD/Easton) defeating non-conference host Becker College 20-10 Tuesday afternoon in Worcester, Massachusetts.  The Mustangs improve to 5-3 and remain at 1-2 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.

The two teams exchanged goals for most of the first half until the Mustangs scored nine unanswered goals. The Mustang run started after Becker held a 6-4 advantage. Alexandra Sarno (East Patchogue, NY/Bellport Senior) got the run started when she scored an unassisted goal with 18:16 remaining in the half. Junior attacker Danielle Chuba (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern Burlington Regional) scored the next three goals for Mount Ida, as the Mustangs increased their lead to 8-6.

In the first half the Mustangs outshot the Hawks 24-13. Mount Ida went into halftime with a 14-7 advantage. Sophomore Nicole Lijana (Moorsetown, NJ.) carried the Hawks with a first half hat trick.

Much like the first half, the Mustangs doubled the amount of goals scored by the Hawks. Danielle Chuba finished with six goals. Alexandra Sarno came off the bench to score three goals. Mout Ida goalie Devyn Frank (Mystic, CT/Fitch) made nine saves in the win.

The Mustangs will travel to GNAC foe Emerson College Thursday afternoon starting at 5:30 p.m.
