MUSTANGS BEAT AMCATS 2-0, McLear continues to roll

It was a good start to the 2007 season for the Mount Ida women’s soccer team with a 2-0 win against Anna Maria College at home for the first time this year.

Freshman Rebecca Tisbert (Cambridge, VT/Cambridge) started her career with the Mustangs with a bang, blasting on in the net coming from a cross via senior Andrea Wheeler (Harwinton, CT/Harwinton). This would put MIC up by a score of two to zero.

Elise McLear (Swansea, MA/Case) continued her offensive threat at the midfield position netting a goal from around the 25 yard marker off a free kick that landed in the top corner on the left side of the net. She will continue to be a force for the Mustangs throughout the season.

Freshman goaltender Meghan Begins Jericho, VT/Jericho) pitched her first shutout in a green uniform and compiled three saves throughout the contest while the Amcats keeper, Karina Almeida, saved seven.

The Mustangs will travel to Bay Path College in western Massachusetts on Wednesday, September 5th for a 4:00 o’clock start.
