MUSTANGS WRAP UP 2007 CAMPAIGN
The Mount Ida College Women’s Soccer team rounded out
their 2007 season with a loss at St. Joseph of Connecticut, 3-1. It
was a tough season for the Mustangs going 8-9-0 overall and a 5-8
Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) record.
Mount Ida was in the hunt for a playoff spot around the end of the
season, but injuries along with two losses in their last two games
didn’t give them the chance they wanted to challenge the
conference in tournament play.
In retrospect, the Mustangs saw some positives with some emerging
freshman, a look forward of things to come for a promising
2008.
Freshman Rebecca Tisbert (Cambridge,
VT/Cambridge) closed out her first campaign with
seven goals and three assists. She was a force on the front line,
helping her team on numerous occasions putting the ball in the net.
She will be an integral part of their success next year.
Elise McLear (Swansea, MA/Case) continued
to be a leader in the midfield position with six goals and one
assist as a junior. She was a master at the direct kick and
dominated the middle of the field. She will be going into her
senior year with high hopes of a winning season.
Freshman Brieanna Holiday (Dummerston,
VT/Dummerston) was another positive for the Mustangs
with four goals and one assist in the striker position. She also
saw some time on defense because of her speed and aggressive
playing style.
Another about-to-be senior, Kathy Tilton (Pembroke,
NH/Pembroke), dominated her defensive spot. She was a
tough player to get by to put a shot on goal, coach Campbell will
look forward to having her back next season.
We wish the best to senior's Jamie Hurd (Gloversville,
NY/Gloversville), Andrea Wheeler
(Harwinton, CT/Lewis Mills), and Ashley
Fisher (Millbury, MA/Millbury) on all the future
endeavors leaving Mount Ida College with a degree and wonderful
memories of Mustangs Women’s Soccer.
