NEWTON, Mass. -- Mount Ida College women's soccer freshman forward Mikayla Lovering (Colchester, Vt.) has been recognized as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Corvias Rookie of the Week.
Lovering had a career week for the Mustangs as she netted her first two collegiate goals last Wednesday against Becker in which the Mustangs came from behind to beat the Hawks 3-1. Lovering tied the score at one just after Becker took the lead when she took on three Becker defenders before firing a shot from about twelve yards out past the outstretched keeper.
The rookie added an insurance goal later in the 83rd minute of play when she found the other end of a pass from the end line in which she slotted the ball past the Becker keeper for the Mustang victory.
Thru seven games, Lovering has amassed two goals and an assist while totalling five points which leads all Mustangs.
Lovering and the Mustangs return to GNAC play this coming Saturday when they welcome the Cadets of Norwich University to Alumni Field with game time set for 3:00 PM.
