FIRST EVER MUSTANG WOMEN'S TENNIS COACH HIRED

The Mount Ida College athletic department is pleased to announce the hiring of John T. Nestel, first ever head coach for the women's tennis team, starting this coming fall 2009 in its first varsity season in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). 

Nestel has a very impressive resume and has been a pro certified instructor with the United States Professional Tennis Registry since 1988.  He is also a United States Tennis Association and an International Tennis Association Certified Official.

From 1990-1992, Nestel was a touring tennis professional with the ATP Tour competing all over the world in tournaments.  For the next three years Nestel was the guest tennis professional at the Super Clubs Resorts in the Caribbean up until 1995.   

His first shot at coaching was at his alma mater as a volunteer assistant women's tennis coach at Boston College for one year in 1996. Nestel stayed involved with tennis while operating Peach Properties Real Estate Development as the President and Owner from 1996-2007. 

He continued playing from 2003-2008 and was ranked in the top three in New England men's 35's and top 25 national doubles ranking in the United States.  After working as a tennis professional in 2008-2009 coaching women's A, B, and C teams along with junior clinics and private lessons, Nestel took on the head coaching position at Thayer Academy in Braintree, Massachusetts. 

Nestel graduated from Boston College in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.  He was a four year member of the varsity tennis team and part of four Big East Conference championships from 1986-1989 during his time as an Eagle. 

He currently resides in Cohasset, Massachusetts.
