The Mount Ida College athletic department is pleased to announce the hiring of Dan Munsey who will take over as the head women’s tennis coach for the Mustangs as they head into their third season as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). 

“I’m very excited and happy to become a part of the Mustang family,” said Munsey.  “The program is definitely one on the rise through only two years of existence and I feel this is an opportunity for me to be a part of something special.”

Munsey comes to the Mustangs after two years at Wellesley College as the assistant coach for the men’s and women’s squad in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).  Munsey helped the 2011 team improve from an unranked position to the number 24 overall team in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings. 

Before his two year stint with big blue he was the assistant at Division I Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio assisting in all coaching aspects. 

Not only has Munsey been successful on the sidelines as a coach, he was a three time All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) selection during his time as a player at Division III Colby-Sawyer College.  Munsey is third all-time in career victories in the Chargers record books as well as a two-time team captain his junior and senior seasons. 

Following his senior season, Munsey went on to land his first assistant position at his alma mater during 2007 and 2008 for the men’s and women’s programs.
