CROSS COUNTRY FINISHES 7TH IN BLAZERS INVITATIONAL
The Mount Ida College women's cross country team competed in the Elms College Blazers Invitational 5K finishing in seventh place out of 11 teams that ran in the event finishing with 170 points total this past Saturday in Chicopee, Massachusetts.
Top finisher for the Mustangs was sophomore Jeileen Rivera (Springfield, MA/Springfield) in 12th place out of 83 runners with a time of 21:36 only 1:53 off the pace of the first place runner. Next to cross was junior Melissa Fuller (Woburn, MA/Woburn) with a time of 25:43 in 54th place. Freshman Kammy Taylor (Norwood, MA/Norfolk Agricultural School) finished third for her team and 60th in the race with a time of 26:24. Sophomore newcomer to the cross country squad Danielle Chuba (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern Burlington Regional) concluded the race in 65th with a time of 27:15. Senior Liz Menensale (Beverly, MA/Beverly) and sophomore Erin Dufficy (Shelton, CT/Shelton) came in pretty close to each other with Menensale finishing in 78th with a time of 32:35 and Dufficy crossing in 80th at 35:31. Sophomore Mairead Coleman (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) finished in 83rd with a time of 37:28.
The Mustangs will compete in the annual Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College this coming Saturday, October 3rd starting at 10:45 a.m.
